Please - Can You Help Me Choose a College?

This is one very common question from high school students looking into their futures with a head full of questions. It can be difficult to decide where you want to further your education, especially if you are not even sure exactly what you want to be just yet.
Don't panic! Many college students have no idea what they really want to be when they enter college. Even those who go in thinking they do know, often change their mind at least once before they graduate college.
So, help me choose a college! This is a great question, but ultimately the choice must be yours. Before you start campus visits, figure out your basic college needs.
Location. If there is a reason that you need to stay close home, then you need to figure out the colleges within a reasonable distance. If you want to go further away, then you should consider the climate and whether you will be able to afford to visit home as often as you would like. For example, don't pick Colorado if you don't like a lot of cold weather and snow.
Finances. How are you going to pay for college? If you will be getting government or private grants that can be used anywhere, then you can skip this option. If you are paying your own way or depending on parents, then you need eliminate any colleges which will be too expensive. If your perfect college is just slightly above what you can afford, then you may consider ways to earn money while there to pay part of your own way.
Interests. If you already know a general field you would like to study in, then you will want to search out colleges that have a good program for that field. This may take a little research or asking around, maybe even making phone calls.
This is the first part of the answer when people say help me choose a college. Figuring out these basic college needs should at least focus your options on a few good schools.
